Tourist Rentings in Bavaro / Punta Cana
Veron / Higuey

Verón
To 10 km from Bavaro and 5 km from Punta Cana, and forming a triangle with these two towns, is Veron, the locality 100% Dominican nearest tourist areas. The junction of the road coming from Higuey with roads to Punta Cana and Bavaro is popularly referred to as the "Veron's Crossing", and is the most active center of this town.

Very near this crossing, taking direction Bavaro we have the national police headquarter, and taking direction Punta Cana we find the best hospital in the entire east coast, Bavaro Hospiten, of private equity.

Veron really do not have too tourist attractions, but bases its activity on the transit of travelers coming and going Bavaro and/or Punta Cana from inside the country and vice versa. Perhaps the main attractions are the shops that exist on the road out towards Higuey, that being local-oriented stores are an alternative to the tourist-oriented shops of Bavaro and Punta Cana.

Higuey
By this road and after an hour bus ride, you get to Higuey, the capital of the province that encompasses the entire east coast, a well populated city with about 150,000 inhabitants.

One of the main attractions of this city is Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia cathedral or basilica, that was inaugurated in 1971 and attracts thousands of faithful catholics throughout the year, and especially recieves the famous and massive pilgrimage in the month of January each year, to commemorate the January 21 the Day of the Virgin of La Altagracia, patron of the country and protector of the dominican people.

Due to its proximity to the tourist areas of Bavaro and Punta Cana, Higuey is arguably the most economically developed city throughout the Dominican Republic. In its streets has a range of services, hypermarkets, and malls like Multiplaza located in road of La Romana-Higuey, very close to the basilica, and that is the main commercial center of the province.
